HAPPY THANKSGIVING! EAT MORE TURKEY!
You’ve found it! I’ve put together this website to showcase the mysteries I have been
writing. Feel free to check back from time to time and join me in the process as I go from writing the first draft,
through editing and revising, to finding an agent and publisher, to finally getting a finished product out on the shelves
of the bookstores. I cannot say which of these novels, if any, will get published first, but learn with me as I take the
plunge into the world of writing and publishing.
Killer Nashville was great fun again, and the critique by Kelly Nichols was invaluable. Back
to the revision process for me. I am also revising A Simple Prejudice and trying to finish Powers and
Principalities, which I may rename once I have it ready. I hope to have all three ready for critique in February when
Sleuthfest rolls around. I will also enter another short story, "No Fury," into the contest this year.
I e-mailed the agent to whom I had sent A Simple Prejudice and told him to not bother
since I was going to revise it anyway. I didn't want to waste his time. I had already lopped off the first chapter for my
first draft, and now I've lopped off the new first chapter. I'd heard other authors tell about how they had done similar
cuts to their stories, and I'd always wondered how that could happen. Well, now I know. After each rewrite, though, the
story does sound better, so I'm excited to continue working on it.
Some guidance to get you around my site. The links to the side in the top box will bring you
to the first novels in each of the series. Within each, you will find sample chapters, links to people and places referenced
in the novel, and additional links pertaining to the city featured in the novel.
The links in the second box lead to informative and interactive pages. Check out The Process to
learn more about writing and publishing, particularly what I've learned along the way. If you would like to leave me a message, either use the e-mail address at
the bottom of each page, or follow the Leave Feedback link, which leads to a blog.
Enjoy looking around and come back to see how far I’ve progressed down the road to publication!
